Local anesthetic is the numbing medicine used for pain control at the treatment area. IV moderate sedation is an optional, separate service that may help some patients feel more relaxed when it is clinically appropriate.
Choosing a comfort option is individual. The planned procedure, health history and expected treatment time all matter.
How sedation affects a self-pay estimate
Local anesthetic is already included in Star Dental's extraction fee. Optional IV moderate sedation is separate and is generally estimated at $500–$1,000, depending mainly on the time required.

At Star Dental, optional IV moderate sedation is generally estimated at five hundred to one thousand dollars, depending mainly on the time required. It is not the same as general anesthesia. Your dentist will review the safe, appropriate options for you.
