Emergency Dentist While Visiting Denver

Visiting Denver with tooth pain, a broken tooth or a denture problem? Star Dental can see patients visiting Colorado and can forward records to their usual dentist afterward. Call 303-222-1414 before traveling to the office, explain the symptoms and tell us when you are due to leave town.

Give the team the travel context

Start with the dental concern: where it hurts, when it began, swelling, damage or recent treatment. Then explain whether you are staying in Denver, passing through or leaving shortly. A return flight or road trip matters for arranging appointments and follow-up, but it does not determine which treatment is clinically appropriate.

Tell us if another dentist recently started treatment, placed a temporary restoration or gave you instructions. Keep those details available. They help distinguish a new problem from follow-up on work already in progress.

Bring the information you have

  • A current medication list and relevant health history.
  • Your regular dentist’s name and contact details.
  • Any recent treatment summary, X-rays or written instructions.
  • Insurance or Medicaid information, if applicable.
  • Your travel dates and where you expect to receive follow-up.
  • A broken appliance and all available pieces if the concern is a denture.

Missing paperwork should not prevent you from calling. Star can discuss records requests and will make its own diagnosis. Additional images may be needed if previous records are unavailable or do not answer the current question.

Decide what can be done here and what needs follow-up

Part of the plan What to clarify before you leave
Today’s assessment What caused the problem and which options were discussed?
Care completed at Star Which procedure or temporary step was carried out?
Further treatment What remains unfinished and how soon should it be addressed?
Instructions How should you protect the treated area or appliance?
Records What information should reach your usual dentist?

An urgent appointment may provide definitive care or a first stage followed by further treatment. Ask the dentist to make that distinction clear. Do not treat pain relief as proof that the full plan is complete.

Discuss travel with the treating dentist

Ask how the proposed procedure may affect your immediate plans and what follow-up should be arranged before leaving. The answer depends on the treatment and your health; this page does not provide a universal “safe to fly” time.

If sedation is being considered, Star’s IV option requires separate assessment, scheduling and applicable approval. It is not a same-day emergency add-on. Tell the team about transport and support arrangements before agreeing on an appointment.

Finding Star and arranging prescriptions

Star is at 1490 S Sheridan Blvd, Suite 102, Denver, near Lakewood and West Denver. The office is next to the pharmacy in King Soopers, which may be convenient if the dentist prescribes medication. Check pharmacy hours and availability directly; a prescription is based on the clinical assessment.

Our published hours are 7 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 7 a.m.–5 p.m. Friday–Sunday. Call to confirm an appointment for your concern. Trouble breathing or swallowing or severe spreading swelling needs emergency medical care; call 911 for breathing difficulty.

Costs and coverage away from home

Bring your plan information, but do not assume out-of-area care is covered on the same terms as visits at home. Ask about the examination and any treatment estimate before proceeding. Uninsured patients are welcome.

If you pay directly and need documents for your insurer or regular dentist, ask which itemized records will be provided and how the appropriate information can be forwarded. Keep your instructions and follow-up plan accessible during travel.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to be an established Star patient?

No. Star accepts new patients and can see people visiting Colorado. Call with your symptoms and travel dates to discuss availability.

Can you send the records to my regular dentist?

Yes. Ask the team to arrange the appropriate transfer and provide your usual dentist’s details and any required authorization.

Can you finish all treatment before I leave Denver?

That depends on the diagnosis, treatment stages, time available and any referral needs. Ask what can be completed here and what should be arranged after returning home.

Can I use Medicaid from another state?

Do not assume another state’s Medicaid will cover the visit. Give the team the exact program information and ask about coverage before relying on it; Star accepts Health First Colorado.
