Compare denture options
| Option | Best suited for | Key question |
|---|---|---|
| Complete denture | Replacing every tooth in an upper or lower arch | Are extractions or healing needed first? |
| Partial denture | Replacing one or more teeth while keeping useful natural teeth | Are the supporting teeth healthy? |
| Repair or reline | Correcting certain fractures, lost teeth or fit changes | Can the current appliance be made serviceable? |
| Replacement denture | A lost, severely worn, repeatedly broken or unrepairable appliance | What has changed in the mouth and bite? |
A personalized three-step process
- Impressions and records: the dentist and on-site technician evaluate the mouth and supporting tissues.
- Try-in: fit, bite, tooth position, shade and smile are reviewed when the sequence allows.
- Final insertion: the denture is placed and adjusted, with follow-up care as the mouth adapts.
Repair or replacement?
A clean fracture may be repairable. Repeated breakage, severe wear, major fit changes or an unrepairable base may make replacement more predictable. Keep every piece and never use household glue.
