Health First Colorado can cover removal when the tooth and procedure meet program rules. The dentist needs to examine the tooth and review appropriate images. Your active coverage, an enrolled provider and the specific service matter. An impacted wisdom tooth alone does not establish coverage.

Tell the dentist about pain, swelling, infection or other changes. The examination and images help explain the cause. Current criteria restrict routine removal of symptom-free wisdom teeth, with a limited exception in an approved orthodontic plan. The office should confirm which rules apply to your situation.

A reason to remove one wisdom tooth does not establish a reason to remove the other three. Ask which tooth needs treatment, what the findings show, and whether another tooth can be monitored. The clinical recommendation and coverage for the complete plan both need checking.

For standard adult Health First Colorado members age twenty-one and older, the dental benefit limit is three thousand dollars per benefit year, from July first through June thirtieth. Covered emergency treatment and dentures do not count toward that limit. Ask about remaining benefits and how your planned treatment will count.

Standard Health First Colorado children's dental benefits have no annual dollar limit, copayment or deductible through age twenty. Medical necessity and service rules still apply. Other programs can differ, including C H P Plus and Cover All Coloradans. Ask the office to confirm the member's exact coverage.
